Hi musical mates !
Here to introduce this underground synthpop gem from "Identity", the only album released by ZEE a short-lived side project of Pink Floyd keyboardist Rick Wright in partnership with Dave Harris of New Romantic outfit Fashion, released in 1984.
“Strange rhythm” is a relatively simple electronic piece, with an obsessive synth rhythm, a great danceable bass line and the ethereal voice of Mr. Harris. Great ending with a sampled guitar solo in perfect 80s style.
For a DJ use, i recommend to pitch up to 120 bpm and the song will immediately get a very clubbing feel, very catchy and hypnotic !
Wright later stated that he felt "Identity" was an "experimental mistake" that should never have been released, but recently the release is being rediscovered by lots of 80s crate diggers.
The album makes heavy use of the Fairlight CMI, a musical synthesizer popularized in the 1980s. This creates a very electronic sound that persists through every track.
