Zebra Crossing was a band of seven musicians founded in 1978 by Mario and Giosy Capuano brothers, one of the few italian disco band produced by an english label, in this case EMI Records.
Mario and Giosy Capuano were successful producers and authors for many italian pop by performers, like Mina, Bobby Solo, Loretta Goggi and Ricchi e Poveri.
They released some works with their names also, and a due mention is for the 1975 sought-after album called “Soul Talk Orchestra”.
Zebra Crossing, like many other acts in the 70s (Earth, Wind and Fire for example), during their live perfomances wore bizarre stage costumes, a mix between Egyptian pharaohs and absurd extreterristrial beings: check out this rare YouTube video to see their incredible stage outfit !
The one and only album they released in 1978 it was simply titled “Zebra Crossing”, and, after a short promo tour through Europe, they definitively disbanded at the end of 1979.
Anyway, the album is a deep journey into the underground italian-flavoured disco-funk, with lots of groove and fat synths, dreamy female vocals and harassing percussive lines: take some time to listen to “Flim-Flam” to figured out what i meant to be a FAT GROOVE!
