Even though summer is over, it is hard for me not to think and hum about the music listened at Garden Tisno, Croatia at the Dekmantel Selectors.
The site was incredibly beautiful and relaxing, everything built around nature and surrounding by Adriatic Sea. After two weeks i've taken a break on music listening, that was the perfect location for dancing and enjoying the obscure music played by the best-curated selection of DJs I’ve ever seen.

As soon as I arrived in the bay, I was greeted by sunny disco music of Eelco Couvreur and Dollkraut on the wonderful beach with turquoise water and the fabulous old wooden boats, behind the stage. That was a nice way to start the festival.
At dusk I moved to the second beach stage to savor the warm afro sound of Awesome Tapes From Africa. "Function One" sound system made a good job to enfatize the old cassettes of the collector Brian Shimkovitz. The result was a trip on the african rhythms of all the ages.
At nightfall, I landed to the "Voodoo Stage" drove by the Dutch Interstellar Funk. Powered by a strong soundsystem, the music here was more synthetic and dark, as in the style of the 1979 song The Ultimate Warlord by The Immortals: a blast in the night!
After the dark trip, I ended my day up at the last and intimate stage that was at the top of the camping. Here, Abel from Redlight Records (Amsterdam) and Calypso Steve made a good selection of killer disco and obscure balearic tracks. A nice icing on the cake in this wonderful day.

But the best was yet to come!
The day after has been the time for the boat party with Intergalactic Gary, Lena Willikens and Interstellar Funk.
A nice trip in the space with 80s electronic and cosmic sound, floating on the calm sea with a lot of islands all around me. I never felt so relaxed to dance that way. The Selectors DJs made my day turning Disco Shitan by Pino Presti (1977) and Fascinated by Company B (1986).

Coming back to the mainland at the dusk time, i was very happy to listen on the beach stage the distinctive Italian touch of Beppe Loda. After the synthetic music trip on the boat party, the funky 70s and italo disco sound was perfect to come back to reality. Pure disco energy with tracks by Midnight Gang, Peter Jacques Band, Macho and many others of the late 70s era. A powerful prelude for Mike Servito and Black Madonna. What a fucking line-up... but the nicest discovery of that night has been Eaglemen and Cinema Royale on the intimate stage. African, Brazilian, Indian and synth pop music for a trip around the world’s sounds.

Unfortunately, even the second day is gone.
The day after started with one of my favorite obscure editors and killer selectors: Loud-E!
After three days, the Dekmantel philosophy of people passionate about music was truly visible in the crowd. Everyone was friendly, respectful and enthusiastic, everybody felt free to dance and listen to all the music genres, and, of course, another key element of this festival was the totally freedom of expression undergone by all the DJs. Everyone played his obscure music like he was in an house party and thumbs-up to the Dekmantel staff 'cause they constructed the best festival I’ve had the pleasure of attending.
