The Clash – Overpowered by Funk

The Clash is one of my all time favorite band, so it was so hard to choose one song from their multi-sided discography. Anyway, other songs will surely be posted in other circumstances.

This time my choice went to “Overpowered by Funk”, a white funk track included in 1982 album called “Combat Rock”.

The cut is a 5-minutes pure syncopated shout by Strummer, an overwhelming manic and repetitive hymn against the Western world, in the name of funk.

An instrumental version of the song is featured on "Hell W10", a B/W silent film written and directed by Joe Strummer. Hell W10 was filmed in the summer of 1983 and then included in "The Essential Clash" in 2003.
