Peter Saville – Minimal Elegance

  • By: Alo

Peter Saville was the brain behind much of the album artworks for Factory Records. His elegance, clearness and simplicity in visualizing music touched his best in Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasure artwork, where he represented the signal of a death star on a dark background. Peter Saville had a key role on the Manchaster music scene from 70’s to 90’s, he produced many posters for Factory events and also many artworks especially for New Order and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD),but we can’t forget the packaging for A Certain Ratio’s “The Graveyard and The Ballroom” relased in cassette, and the artwork for the punk poet John Cooper Clarke for whom he “dressed” the beautiful “Snap, Crackle & Bop” produced by Martin Hannett.
