Once i got noticed about the live show of Fred Wesley and his band at the Teatro Accademia in the historic centre of Conegliano city (just right next door from where i live) , i went to the nearest record store to buy my tickets right away ! Hey mates, you might know that Mr. Wesley is a global icon of black music, probably one of the best trombonist to walk up this Planet!! Side-by-side with the Godfather of Soul James Brown once and with the P-Funk Minister Sir George Clinton later, he powered up the epic FUNK REVOLUTION back in the late 60s through all the 70s decade. His music is real, primitive, physical, made of blood and sweat…nothing to do with the contemporary plastic sound…
Here with his great musicians (Bruce Cox on the drums is a fucking groove machine!), the Maestro offered a captivating performance to a very variegated audience (from the grey-haired 50s-years-old funky nostalgic men to ordinary house-mothers, from new younger funkters followers to some childs also!).
We all start enjoyin’ this funktastic gig sit down on our seats…but, lead by an unexpected freaky dance show put on by a solitary shameless guy, all the people in the first rows, myself included, moved quickly under the stage to be drift up by the trombone notes delightfully blowed by the one and only Fred Wesley!
Finally, a memorable night in the name of the endless FUNK POWER !
